NCHD meeting held to enhance female role

PESHAWAR—National Commission for Human Development held female Broad Based Community Meeting (BBCM) at D. I. Khan district to underline the need for creating awareness about the importance of literacy and to enhance the role of women in the progress of country. Speakers at BBCM said that literacy is a key to progress and it is major responsibility of the citizens to create awareness about advantages of being literate. They said that the government is paying more attention to the education sector as it is diverting maximum resources towards education sector to achieve the goal of ‘Education for All’. Female Social Organizer, Najia Inayat suggested that for increasing the ratio of literacy NCHD would establish 480 Adult Literacy Centers in the up-coming phase of Literacy in which approximately 12000 learners of age group of 9 to 45 would get free education through literacy programme launched by NCHD to meet Millennium Development Goal. She said that to establish Adult Literacy Centers in the community, there would be a list of at least 25 learners. Moreover, she said NCHD would provide sign board, black board, chalks and books whereas community would arrange the identification and arrangement of place for these centers.—Agencies
