‘All PIA flights operational on designated routes across Europe’

ISLAMABAD—Caretaker Minister for Defence Salim Abbas Jilani Wednesday said that all the PIA flights are operating according to schedule in designated routes across the Europe. Replying to a question raised by Dr. Safdar Abbasi in the Senate, he said ban imposed on PIA flights in Europe has been lifted completely and now PIA flights are operational in all the European countries.
He said all required facilities for maintenance of aircraft are available with the PIA departments and “our experts also do have engine overhaul capabilities for aircraft including F-27, B-300, B-737 B-747.”
The engineering and maintenance department of national flag carrier was certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency and international world recognise the expertise of our engineers.
To another question, he said PIA is operating 39 flights per week between the Northern Areas and other parts of the country and presently, no proposal is under consideration to increase its flights to the Northern Areas. Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Dr. Abdullah Riar in his written reply said a total of 28,037 complaints against PTCL were received by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) during last two years.
“Out of all complaints lodged against PTCL, 26,581 have been addressed or disposed off and remaining are under process with PTA,” he said.
Minister for Railways Mansoor Tariq in his written reply to a question said, a project of 5 diesel electric locomotives to be manufactured at the Pakistan Locomotive Factory (PLF), Risalpur has already been approved by ECNEC on 19th September last year.
He said international tender for procurement or manufacture of 75 diesel electric locomotives has been advertised and out of these, 50 would be manufactured in PLF. Mansoor Tariq said 53 new railway crossings were constructed during the last five years in the country.
