Islamabad police arrest 484 outlaws

ISLAMABAD—Islamabad police arrested 484 persons involved in various
criminal activities and also recovered stolen goods worth Rs. 47,88,835
during the last week. It was revealed during a meeting chaired by Senior
Superintendent of Police (Operations) Syed Kaleem Imam.
The meeting was attended among others by Sub-Divisional Police officers
of various circles and station house officers of all police stations who
apprised the SSP about their weekly performance. They also told the SSP
about the progress in high profilecases, pending references, arrest of
proclaimed offenders, court absconders and military deserters.
The meeting was told that recovered stolen goods includedeight cars, tow
Toyota Hiace, one Suzuki van, nine mobile phone and other household
items.
It was told that 21 proclaimed offenders, court abscondersand military
deserters were also arrested while 136 challans were sent to the court
and 12 objectionable challans were alsorectified.
Meanwhile, 20 cases pertaining to arms and ammunition were also
registered wherein 16 pistols, two 12 bore guns, 128 live cartridges and
two daggers were recovered. As many as 21 cases of narcotics were also
registered where as 7.730 kilograms of charas and 2171 bottles of liquor
were recovered during the last week. During this period, Capital City
Police raided four brothel houses and arrested 14 male and 16 female
accused.
Capital police also recovered four abductees without payingransom during
the week.
The performance of the police officials involved in tracingthe hostages
was appreciated and it was agreed to give them high grade awards. The
SSP expressed his satisfaction with settling of 90 percent pending
public complaints, inquiries and references.
During weekly meeting, the performance of Sabzi Mandi,Bharakau, Golra,
Karal, Tarnol, Aabpara, Kohsar, Secretariat police stations and CIA was
appreciated. The SSP reiterated to conduct effective patrolling and
enhance existing level of crime detection. He also emphasized upon the
police officials to fix timings for hearing public complaints. He also
warned strict action against those officials who would be involved to
delay the registration of cases and lingering them without any reason.
