ICCI stresses for closer cooperation between Poland, Pakistan

ISLAMABAD—Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce
& Industry on Tuesday said due to best geographical location of
Pakistan, Polish products and services can be exported not only to
Pakistan but also via Pakistan to the neighbouring countries.
Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry
while talking to visiting Dr.Krzystof Debnicki, Ambassador of Poland
said that the volume of trade between the two countries is very low and
stressed on the need for the enhancement of two-way bilateral trade in
billion of dollars.
The President ICCI said that two countries have over a 45 years old
tradition of co-operation but unfortunately potential in developing
economic and trade relations has not been fully explored and utilized by
the two countries. He said that Pakistan and Poland can cooperate in the
fields of gas and oil, energy, infrastructure, maritime, engineering and
agro food sectors as well as development of small and medium enterprise
(SMEs), coal and mining industry.
Ijaz Abbasi, President ICCI said that geopolitically Pakistan is
locatedat the confluence of three vital regions - South Asia, Central
Asia and West Asia that helps in the co-operation between all three
regions for energy, trade, transportation and tourism. He further said
that due to best geographical location of Pakistan, Polish products and
services can be exported not only to Pakistan but also via Pakistan to
the neighbouring countries.
President ICCI also stressed for regular exchange of business
delegationsfrom both sides and said that Islamabad Chamber shall arrange
a business delegation to Poland in the next few months for business
meetings with the Polish entrepreneurs. He also invited Poland
Ambassador for a visit to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry for a
meeting with the business community of Islamabad.
Dr.Krzystof Debnicki, Ambassador of Poland said he found Pakistan
verydifferent place from as it is negatively projected in the media. He
said that there is a great scope of trade and investment for Polish
businessmenin Pakistan and stressed to the security of investment of
Polish investors,so as to encourage them to invest in Pakistan.
Ambassador said that Poland can supply to Pakistan electric
equipmentincluding diesel generators, railway equipment, agriculture
machinery and spare parts, heavy vehicles and marine and diesel engines.
He said that
Poland exports to Pakistan include machines, chemicals, cast iron and
steel,wood pulp and cardboard, fertilizer, newsprint, machinery engines,
rolling bearings, oil seeds milk powder etc.
Dr.Krzystof Debnicki, said that Poland is situated in the heart of
Europe, which provides an excellent base for Pakistan’s economic
expansion into the European Union and into the East Central European
countries, which the Pakistani businessmen should take advantage. |
