Qazi throws weight behind Nawaz

ISLAMABAD—Vowing to take every steps to ensure the supremacy of the Parliament, Quaid Pakistan Muslim League-N Mian Nawaz Sharif and Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed have asked President Pervez Musharraf to resign before he is impeached
Addressing a joint press conference here on Monday, Quaid PML-N said that after forming of the Government, PML-N would take steps for the restoration of the judiciary and the constitution. He informed that a meeting of PPP, PML-N, Awami National Party and other political parties would be held on February 27 in which strategy for the formation of Government would be devised.
PML-N Quaid said that we have no differences over the issues of restoration of judiciary and the constitution, adding that the agenda of All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) and PML-N is the same. The former Prime Minister further said that after the formation of Government, all the issues including the terrorism would be solved through negotiations.
He said that we would prove our two-third majority in the meeting of February 27 and a deadline for the transfer of power would be given to Pervez Musharraf as he is unconstitutional President. Responding to a question, Mian Nawaz Sharif said that the people of the country have given the verdict against Pervez Musharraf in the recently held elections.
He said that PML-N participated in elections as other political parties were also participated in elections, as it did not want to leave field open for Q-League. Addressing Press Conference, Amir Jammat Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed said that APDM boycotted the elections on its principle stand on the restoration of the judiciary and the constitution and removal of Pervez Musharraf from the post of the President.
He further said that Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was deposed from the post of the Chief Justice of Pakistan when the case for the eligibility of Pervez Musharraf was under trial. APDM with the support of PML-N would restore the judiciary and the constitution and the same judiciary would take the decision regarding the future of Pervez Musharraf, he added.
Responding to a question, the Amir JI said that both PPP and PML-N should be given opportunities to form the Government so that they could restore the constitution. We would not create any problems for the new Government, he added. Qazi Hussain Ahmed further said that APDM would give time for N-League and PPP for the formation of the Government, adding that it is the priority of APDM to formulate policies inside the country. No interference from the United States would be tolerated, he said categorically. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, former prime minister and leader of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) told US ambassador Anne W. Patterson on Monday that his party’s tally in the 272 member national assembly will rise from 68 to 90 after being joined by independent candidates.

Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday demanded transfer of power to new government.
Addressing a joint news conference with Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad in here, Nawaz Sharif said that all out efforts will be made for the supremacy and sovereignty of the Parliament.
He said that a meeting of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), PML (N), Awami National Party (ANP) and independents will be held in Islamabad on Wednesday (tomorrow) to demand the National Assembly session at the earliest.
