Law Minister praises judiciary for peaceful conduct of free, fair and transparent elections

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Syed Afzal Haider has appreciated the role of judiciary for the smooth and peaceful conduct of free, fair and transparent elections in the country.
In his separate letters addressed to the chief justices of Balochistan, NWFP, Sindh and Punjab the Minister here on Monday said, “it gives me singular pleasure to place on record deep appreciation on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Law and Justice and myself for the smooth and peaceful conduct of free, fair and transparent elections”.
“We are cognizant of the tense situation under which the elections were held. It had, however, been possible through your personal attention, supervision and the encouragement instilled in the judges and their staff who had been directly and indirectly involved in the conduct of electoral process culminating on 18 February”, he added. The law minister said no gainsaying that they displayed maturity, cool headedness and the will to discharge their duties faithfully and commitment to brave all odds. It deserves recognition and of course appreciation. Your goodself may be pleased to convey the same to the honourable members of judiciary and their staff.
The minister said “I am sure that you must have been equally pleased over the wide and international acknowledgement of the conduct of elections in free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner. The elections have enhanced the image of Pakistan”.
