By Saad Saud

RAWALPINDI—Former presidential candidate Justice (Retd) Wajih ud Din has warned people and lawyers will not accept any constitutional package aimed at indemnifying illegal, unconstitutional and despotic steps of president Pervez Musharraf.
“A package is being evolved to indemnify unconstitutional steps of president Musharraf including ambush on elected government and judiciary, killings of over 2500 innocent people in Lal Masjid and sell out of missing persons to US in return for 5000 dollar each. PPP, PML-N and ANP will be used to achieve this objective”, he alleged this while addressing Rawalpindi Bar Council here Monday.
He warned if the elected leadership would not come upto the expectation of the people then the whole nation would come out on roads from their homes, shops and fields and winds of change will blow within minutes. He held the results of February, 18 elections immortalized the sacrifices rendered by the lawyers. . The legal fraternity had created Pakistan under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam and now they would perform the sacred obligation of saving the country too, he added. Chief Justice of Pakistan was rendered dysfunctional on March, 9, he said adding over 2500 children and women were blown up in bombardment. The present dictator refused to accept the verdict of Supreme Court regarding reinstatement of chief justice and deposed 62 judges including chief justice of Pakistan through PCO, he charged.
It is becoming evident from reports of national and international media that Pakistan and president Musharraf can not co-exist, he maintained. In this perspective a package was being worked out through which new constitutional amendments could be brought, he added. In this respect reconciliation is being evolved between PPP, PML-N and ANP, he alleged. Lawyers are being convinced to prevent them from staging protest processions on March, 7 and 9 , he added.
