PML-Q won’t trouble coalition Govt: Shujaat

ISLAMABAD—PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said his party
will play role of strong opposition in the national assembly. He said
this while talking to the journalists here Sunday at his residence after
PML-Q parliamentary party meeting. PML-Q president held president Pervez
Musharraf was a constitutional president adding he had been elected by
the national and all the four assemblies.
PML-Q is a national party and it represents all the four provinces, he
maintained. “We have decided to sit on opposition benches and we will
play role of a strong opposition in national assembly”, he told.
Political parties had made pledges with the nation during the elections,
he said adding it is now incumbent upon them to deliver their promises.
PML-Q general secretary Mushahid Hussain Syed said “ Our morale is very
high and we will do politics on issues and we don’t want politics of
confrontation. PML-Q is united under the leadership of Chaudhry Shujaat
Hussain. We are ready for next round. Parliamentary leader will be
decided in the next meeting”. PML-Q parliamentary party, through a
resolution had delegated all powers to Chaudhry Shujaat in connection
with election of parliamentary party leader and contacts with other
parties.
Newly elected Member National Assembly of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q)
Mian Raiz Hussain Pirzada has asked Party President to tender
resignation from his post for the maintenance of democratic norms. It is
vital to nominate new Parliamentary leader of PML-Q in the Parliament,
as no wining party is ready to hold talks with PML-Q, he said this while
talking to Online on Sunday.
We have been punished despite record development Projects and
satisfactory performance during last five years, he said, adding that, a
committee should be constituted to ascertain the cause behind defeat of
PML-Q in the Feb 18 elections. Atta, load shedding and wrong policies of
former Government led to Party defeat in the elections, he said, added,
the Policies of Q-league for Siraki belt was wrong. The people living
alongside the Siraki belt has been facing enormous difficulties
especially water scarce. He said he totally support ongoing movement of
lawyer fraternity for the reinstatement of deposed judges who refused to
take oath under Provincial Constitutional Ordinance (PCO).
Pakistan’s outgoing ruling party promised Saturday to support the
victors in combating Islamic extremism, while the winners discussed ways
to curb President Pervez Musharraf’s powers — especially his right to
dismiss parliament.
Suspected Islamic extremists killed three Pakistani security personnel
late Saturday south of Peshawar, a reminder of the security threat
facing the next government. Mushahid Hussain, secretary-general of the
Pakistan Muslim League-Q, told reporters that his pro-Musharraf party
was prepared to play a “positive, constructive role” after suffering a
crushing defeat in last Monday’s elections.
