PPP, MQM unlikely to get along in Sindh

ISLAMABAD—Parliamentary part of PPP Sindh Chapter has opposed the
formation of coalition government with MQM and NPP in the province. This
decision was taken in a meeting under the chair of PPP’s Co-Chairman
Asif Ali Zardari, which was held here on Sunday evening at Zardari
House.
The meeting strongly condemned the assassination of former premier Ms.
Benazir Bhutto and condoled with PPP’s Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and
took the detailed review of prevailing political situation of the
country especially in connection of general elections. PPP’s Co-Chairman
Asif Ali Zardari took the participants of the meeting into confidence
regarding formation of government and political consultations and
informed them about overall situation of the country.
The majority of participants of the meeting expressed their reservations
over the role of MQM and political consultations regarding formation of
government. Party sources told that parliamentary party of PPP Sindh
chapter opposed the formation of government in coalition with MQM and
expressed their grave concerns over it, however it gave the power of
formation of government to Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
Asif Ali Zardari, while addressing that participants said that talks are
being held with PML-N, ANP and other political parties regarding
formation of government and all the matters in this regard would be
finalized within couple of days. The confidence with PML-N and ANP
regarding formation of government is maintained and PPP is desirous of
forming national government in view of national reconciliation, he
added.
He further said that it has been settled with PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad
Nawaz Sharif that after oath taking ceremony, the first resolution
regarding the probe of assassination of Ms. Benazir Bhutto from UNO and
second resolution will relate to regret on murderer of former premier
Zulifqar Ali Bhutto would be moved. Meanwhile, party sources told that
PPP’s Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has completed the political
consultation regarding formation of government and he (Zardari) is
likely to announce this decision on Monday (today).
The Spokesperson of Pakistan Peoples Party Farhatullah Babar has said
that his party was in talks with MQM and consultations are going on
within the party and there are different opinions about whether to
cooperate with MQM or not, but nothing has been finalised.
Talking to a French News Agency, Farhatullah Babar has said that PPP
spokesman Farhatullah Babar has said that PPP wants to take all
political forces along to form the government and is discussing the
possibility of cooperating with the MQM..
