Citizens asked to avoid using mobile during driving: Zubair

ISLAMABAD—Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic Muhammad Zubair Hashmi on Sunday said that to control the use of mobile phone while driving is prohibited and fastening of seat belt during driving is mandatory will soon be included in traffic laws.
He said this, while addressing a launching ceremony of special campaign to educate the road users regarding traffic rules and regulations to control the road accident. Summery in this regard has been sent to Ministry of Interior for formal notification and after the notification fine will be imposed against the violators, he added.
He further said that ITP’s Mobile Education Units will be operational to educate the road users regarding traffic rules and regulations at different crossings and main avenues. The SSP Traffic also advised the citizens to use seat belts during driving and to avoid from the use of mobile phone and high beam in night while driving as these are the main causes of road accidents.
He directed the ITP staff to educate the road users to avoid use of mobile phone and fasten seat belts as ITP is striving to take more steps for bring a better traffic culture in the capital and for the safety of road users.—Online
