By Asad Cheema

ISLAMABAD—Senior Vice President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry Munawar Iqbal has demanded that business groups and Government should provide equal employment opportunities to the disabled persons.
Addressing to the delegation of National Welfare Organization for Special Persons, Senior Vice President ICCI has observed that in most of the third world countries especially in Pakistan a disabled person is always looked down upon and offered such trivial jobs as weaving , block printing, tailoring, sweeping and others low wage jobs.
On the contrary, in other cases the general trend has been of self-employment. He stressed that this attitude needs to be changed.
Munawar Iqbal also expressed that recognizing the rights of disabled persons and providing them with decent employment opportunities is a step forward in facilitating and providing a platform for special education and rehabilitation professionals to join hands together and work for the integration of persons with disabilities in society.
PCA President showed his great concern that attitude of the society with disabled people has always been a question mark, because of these fundamental obstacles these special people have never been accepted as normal and vital segment of the society. He criticized the role of international donor agencies which are neglecting the rights of special persons.
The delegation of National Welfare Organization for Special Persons headed by Chairman Abbass Hashim demanded that society should treat them like normal people and government should take such steps to adjust the disabled persons in all sectors. They said that in Islamic Welfare state they want to see every disabled person with earning hands.
