3 killed in check-post attack
Bureau Report

PESHAWAR—At least three personnel of Police and Frontier Corps were killed and five others injured during clashes with militants on Sunday. According to a private TV channel, militants have attacked at a Primary School at Qadirabad with rockets and hand grenades due to which two FC personnel, Hafeez-ul-Allah, Ihsan-ul-Allah and one police man were killed.
In retaliation, a militant was also killed whereas rest of them managed to escape from the scene. The five injured were taken to Lady Reading Hospital for medical treatment. Dozens of Islamic militants attacked a security checkpost in northwestern Pakistan early Sunday, leaving three security personnel and at least one militant dead, police said.
Fierce fighting erupted after up to 60 insurgents armed with rocket launchers and machine guns attacked the checkpost in Mattni village, on the outskirts of Peshawar, senior police official Nasirul Mulk Bangash told. “Two paramilitary soldiers and one policeman embraced martyrdom and six others were injured during the fighting,” he said.
One militant was also killed and several others wounded in the gunbattle which lasted for more than 90 minutes, but militants fled with their casualties towards Khyber tribal district, he said. The site of the clash was near the lawless Darra Adam Khel district where militants occupied a Japanese-built road tunnel last month.
