‘Get ready, spring is starting’

THE palish horizons and bunches of bare trees in the Capital seem to change their appearances as the spring season gets ready to slowly creep and infuse robust glistening signs of life in the giant slumbering Nature. The season perfectly coincides with the post-elections scenario, as the change is in the air.
The green belts surrounding city roads with clapping trees, standing as guardians of environment, usually wear a pall of gloom in winter, the best time to juxtapose human trials and tribulations, at last is about to exit as silently as the frozen morning vapours. The sedative look of dotted grey and green landscape will soon captivate the fanciful imagination of every onlooker who would be compelled to find a semblance between season and life. “The artist is no less influenced and starts accumulating all the innate capacities with strong penchant to depict transitoriness of life with best synthesis of dull and bright colours,” says Mehvish Noreen, an art connoisseur at Nomad Art Gallery.
The spring season usually makes its advent at the fag end of February, with sprouting of tender buds. Trees and plants even the wild thistles, herbs and shrubs start welcoming the ‘happy mood of nature’ with heavy burden of flowers and colours.
This happy mood dominantly hovers over the Capital, gripping the lovers of nature with jocund mood. “If winter comes, can spring be far behind!” the famous lines of John Keats appears to resound in the preparation which have started in the Federal Metropolitan to welcome the season. The seasonal floral business in the Capital is also picking up as large number of people are seen regularly purchasing flowery and fancy plants from the selected spots. These places have started offering a variety of multi-colour flowers, decorative plants, thistles, herbs and shrubs besides mud, ceramic and glass pots.
The most sought after flowers include rose, lotus, marigold, rose, bougainvillea, orchid, Pensy, Phalaenopsis, Rudbeckia Fulgida, Grape hyancyth, Royal atumn Lillies, Aussie julie, Cernedia, Butter cup, Daisy, Sow thistle and Zexmenida etc.According to Ahmed Mukhtar, an owner at Sector H-8 said, it is the peak time for their business which will last till March. “The different varieties of flowers keep on growing in these months, depending upon the weather conditions and the care involved in this hobby,” he added. Mrs Zubaida holding a pot with hanging sapling said that it is marvelous to take colours of nature to home. “It provides solace to me when I am at leisure and keep caressing them,” she added.
“I love these plants as they provide a sense of satisfaction in my grey years, the panorama of colours always takes away worldly fevers and frets associated with old age,” Zubair Kaleem, a retired government official said.
Among these genres some are natives while others are imported from other countries depending upon their price and adaptation to the local atmosphere. While a number of flowers are cross breed, foreign with local varieties. Kashmala Khan, a university student at Sector F-8, said “As a representative of youth, I would like crimson and red colour flowers, which embody a message of love, affection, energy and mercuric temperament,” she added.—Online
