New legislation not needed to restore judges: Nawaz

ISLAMABAD—Former Prime Minister and Quaid Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that two third majority in the Parliament is not needed for reinstatement of deposed judges who refused to take oath under Provincial Constitutional Ordinance (PCO).
In an exclusive chat with Private TV Channel, he said, the nation would see the majority of new Government above to 2/3 in the Parliament, as there is no need of 2/3 majority for reinstatement of deposed judges.
Reinstatement of deposed judges including Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary and release of all detained lawyers is our top priority, he said, adding that, there is complete understanding between him and Co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Asif Ali Zardari in this respect.
Former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif made it clear the new Parliament would not endorse the act of President Pervez Musharraf at any cost. The nation would see the majority above to 2/3 of new Government comprised on PPP, PML-N, Awami National Party (ANP) and other Parties.
The Former Prime Minister thanked nation especially voters for giving mandate to his Party in the Feb 18 elections and vowed to hounour it.
He asked the nation to be alert for the elimination of dictatorship in the country. Terrorism and extremism would be eliminated automatically and there is prosperity in the country with end of dictatorship, he hoped.
Earlier, Quaid PML-N Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif met British High Commissioner Robert Brinkley and discussed matters related to war against terrorism and coalition Government in length.
He also held talks with French Ambassador to Pakistan here in French Consulate. According to sources in PML-N, the meeting was informal. Later, he along with his spouse Kalsoom Nawaz, brother Shahbaz Sharif and Chaudhry Nisar left for Maneshra where they would condole the death of mother of his son in law Capt. (Retd) Safdar.
Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Nawaz Sharif met British and French diplomats here Friday and exchanged view about formation of new government with them. British High Commissioner Robert Brinkley met with Nawaz Sharif in Frontier House and discussed the formation of new government and prospects of alliance between different political parties.
Chadhury Nisar Ali was also present during the meeting, private TV channel reported.
Later, Nawaz Sharif visited French embassy and met with French ambassador. Muslim League (N) sources said the meeting was informal.
