Pak, Yemen to expand relation in health sector

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan attaches great importance to its relation with Yemen
republic and wants to expand it in health sector.
This was stated by the caretaker Federal Health Minister, Ijaz Raheem
while talking to the Ambassador of Yemen Republic Abdul-Elah Hajar who
called on him here on Friday.
The Ambassador remained with the Minister for some time and discussed
matters pertaining to cooperation in health sectors. During the meeting
a working group was set up to discuss details of medical cooperation
between the two countries. Minister of Health promised full
consideration to Yemeni request for increasing graduate and post
graduate facilities for Yemeni doctors in Pakistan.
It was decided to finalize plans of actions to operationalize
memorandums of understanding and protocol signed earlier between the two
governments. It was also decided that pharmaceutical delegates would be
encouraged to visit each other facilities. The Ambassador asked the
Minister to provide him a list of registered pharmaceutical companies in
Pakistan which may be allowed to work in his country.
The Ambassador pointed out that Yemen can become the gateway for the
African market of Pakistani pharmaceutical products. Minister of Health
assured that decision taken in health field on the occasion of the
recent visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Yemen will be
vigorously persuade.
The Ambassador showed keen interest to employee Pakistani specialists
doctors, anesthesia and nurses in Yemen Republic and said that
attractive package would be given to them. He also sought help of the
Minister for training of their health professional in Pakistan.
The Ambassador informed the Minister that kidney and cardiac patients
from Yemen go to USA, UK and European countries for treatment which are
very costly. |
