PIMS to train 4000 police officers on first aid, trauma handling

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) is giving
training to 4000 officers of National Highways & Motorway Police on
First Aid and Trauma Handling.
In this regard, a ceremony was held at PIMS to distribute certificates
amongst the officers of second batch, who completed their course. The
Caretaker Federal Minister for Health Mr. Ejaz Rahim was the chief guest
of the ceremony, while IG, NH&MP and ED, PIMS, Islamabad were also
present. While addressing the participants the Minister for Health said
that this course is of international standards, which has been
recognized by Advocacy International Group of UK. He said that after
getting the training, the officers of motorway police would be more
confident and capable in handling the trauma accident cases.
He also said that Motorway Police depicts the good picture of nation and
interest of this force towards service for the nation is commendable. He
added that the officers of motorway police have been given practical
training by internationally recognized professionals and now they are
able to tackle any kind of emergency in case of any accident.
In the ceremony, the country manager of WHO HE Mehmood Bilay and HE the
Ambassador of Yemen were also present. On the occasion, Minister for
Health said that Motorway Police is doing its best towards the service
to humanity and I consider that the role of NH&MP in case of any
accident is very pivotal and they can be compared with any police force
in the world. Before this, the Inspector General, National
Highways & Motorway Police Mr. Muhammad Raffat Pasha said that in case
of any accident first half an hour is very important and with the
completion of this course Motorway Police will play very important role
in saving the precious lives. He said that motorway police consider the
help of humanity as a sacred purpose and these are the reasons that not
only people but also the government pay respect to this force. He said
that if any injured person is timely shifted to hospital, his life can
be saved, as time is very much important in emergency cases. He said
that motorway police and the doctors are doing the same thing as saving
job in saving of people and this course would be headway in this
respect. On this occasion, the ED, PIMS Dr. Abdul Majeed Rajpoot
showered light on the objectives of course and said that with this
course, the officers of NH&MP will become able to provide efficient
first aid, proficient in handling the fractured bones, help the victims
of heart attach and in this way they will succeed in saving the precious
lives of humanity.
The Minister for Health also said that in the Cardiac center of PIMS,
the government employees would be provided free medicines and in this
respect, 30 million rupees has been provided to concerned quarters. A
project worth 20 billion rupees to train the nurses and midwives on
modern lines has also been approved and latest operation machinery
including the machinery working with alpha , beta and gamma rays is also
being imported which will help in operation of different parts of body
without surgery and for these machinery the government has approved 50
crore rupees. In the end of the ceremony the Minister for Health
distributed the certificates amongst the officers who completed the
course and IG, NH&MP presented a shield to the Minister for Health. |
