War on terror, Waziristan Operation main
causes of PML-Q defeat: Ch Amir admits

ISLAMABAD—Speaker National Assembly Chaudhary Amir Hussain has held
responsible the war on terror, Lal Masjid and Waziristan operation and
high inflation rate for the defeat of former ruling party Pakistan
Muslim League -Q in the recently held General Elections.
Talking to newsmen on Friday, the Speaker National Assembly however said
that the overall performance of the Government of PML-Q was
satisfactorily but we may have committed some lapse.
Chaudhary Amir Hussain said that despite of his engagements as the
capacity of the Speaker National Assembly, he visited his constituency
every week and record development projects were completed. The facility
of Sui Gas was provided in 185 villages out of 288 in his constituency,
he added. The Speaker National Assembly further said that PML-Q by
accepting the results of elections has set a new tradition, adding that
there was no such example in the history of the country.
Answering to a question, Chaudhary Amir Hussain said that the party
which gained majority in the elections has the right constitutionally
and democratically to form the Government, adding that PML-Q would sit
on the opposition benches in the new Assembly.
Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League-N and Awami National
Party have gained clear majority in the elections and could form the
Government, added by the veteran politician.
Responding to a question, Chaudhary Amir Hussain said that the problems,
which were not solved by us, are challenge for the new Government.
He said that the first session of the National Assembly would be
presided over by him while the selection of Speaker and the Deputy
Speaker would be made through secret balloting. |
