Nisar sees political, economic stability

ISLAMABAD—Caretaker Minister for Housing and Works, Nisar Muhammad Khan Thursday said the general elections were held in a free, fair and peaceful atmosphere and hoped it would ensure political and economic stability in the country.
“The elections were held in a conducive atmosphere while no one has challenged impartiality of the caretaker government,” he said in a panel.
The Minister said the future government should put aside all bitterness of past and make policies for the well-being of the people. “We are passing through defining moments and such issues should not be raised that could harm the peaceful and conducive political atmosphere,” he added. Referring to defeat of ruling party, he said the success of the opposition parties shows impartiality of President Pervez Musharraf and his commitment with the continuity of the political process.“He (Musharraf) has fulfilled his promise by holdingelections of local bodies and Senate in the past and now the general elections,” he added.
About future of the country, he said that it is very bright, adding, “We should focus on the country as it is passing through a critical phase.” Responding to a question, he said the law and ordersituation in Swat and Tribal areas would certainly improve after the formation of new government in NWFP. Appreciating the policies of President Pervez Musharraf, hesaid that record development projects were completed at village level owing to local governments system.
