PCA congratulates Govt for holding free, fair and transparent elections

ISLAMABAD—Caretaker federal minister of Information Technology Abdullah Riar said his ministry will send a summary to Federal Board of Revenue to eliminate the sales tax (ST) on computer products from the next budget.
The minister expressed these views here on Thursday during a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Computer Association headed by its president and senior vice president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry Munawar Iqbal. He further said that Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomroo is also agreed for the removal of GST.
Commenting on election process, he said the election fully proved the impartiality of the caretaker government and we all thanked Almighty Allah for His blessings in helping to successfully complete the national obligation.
These were historic elections held under most challenging times and the people of Pakistan have proved to the world that they are a responsible Nation, determined to protect their sovereignty and solidarity.” Abbdullah Riyar thanked the foreign and local media as well as observers for playing a positive role in ensuring the transparency as well as credibility of the elections.
He also lauded the role of his fellow caretaker ministers especially of Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro for putting in “maximum effort” in holding a free and fair election. He also appreciated the law enforcement agencies, the Election Commission and concerned authorities for providing effective security to ensure that the elections are held in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner.
In the meeting President Pakistan Computer Association Munawar Iqbal congratulated the Federal Minister that interim Government hold the Free, fair and transparent elections in the country.
He added that all political parties accepted the results of elections and observer and local media also appreciated the efforts of Government. He said in the wake of challenges like extremism and terrorism confronting the country, now it was important and right time that the nation stands united, exhibits reconciliation, instead of confrontation. President Pakistan Computer Munawar Iqbal emphasized that in order to achieve the benefits of the elections, peace and tranquility must prevail in every part of the country.
