PPP weighing
to form unity Govt: Zardari
Says parliament to be
strengthened
By Our Special Correspondent
ISLAMABAD—The co-chairman of PPPP, Asif Ali Zardari has said that any
future cooperation with President Musharraf would be decided by
consensus of the Parliament. Addressing a press conference after the
meeting of People’s Federal Council, and central executive committee,
convened by himself he reminded masses about possibility of forming a
National government, besides promising a consensus with all political
parties.
He said that regarding this vow, he had contacted all major politicians
and had requested them to act in unison. He expressed his strong
resentment against anti-media laws of PEMRA, and said that after his
toady’s meeting with Mian Nawaz Sharif, he had also announced his demand
for release of deposed and arrested judges.
He announced that the release of barrister Aitizaz Ahsan, for which he
claimed full credits, while talks were going on important issues
including the selection of leader of the house. He said that being
politically oriented, PPPP would prefer to cooperate with all political
parties, and also promised media to help with the pending Wage Board
Award.
He also underscored the importance of judiciary. “We want to assure
complete independence of the judiciary”, he said adding that he has also
met with US Senators who assured their complete cooperation in this
connection, and have pledged their support for masses of Pakistan.
Asif Ali Zardari further said that PPP has found several clues of
rigging on polling day, and has warned election commission of Pakistan
to practice its responsibility prudently, otherwise be prepared to be
Jailed like political leaders and judges.
Zardari reiterated his stance that investigation of Liaqat Bagh tragedy
and assassination of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto must be carried out by
United Nations. “We have received a latter from the United Nations would
conduct investigation of assassination of Ms. Bhutto on the government
demand only”, he added.
He further said that he would pleased if Nawaz Sharif contacts him after
enjoying support of the independent candidates. Moreover, PPP would have
no objection if Nawaz party wants to make government with the support of
other parties. Asif Ali Zardari further said that he is not entitled for
the Prime Minister’s Office; however, their party has enough mandate
leadership for the office of Prime Minister.
He further said to work with President is a sensitive issue. PPP is not
a sole party to decide whether to work with President or not, and the
decision would be left to the newly elected parliament.
Similarly, he said that when PPP came into power, it would make new
polices. There is no conflict of decision in the party over the
selection of Prime Minister, he said by adding that when Aitzaz Ahsan
would be released, PPP would also hear his logic, since Aitizaz Ahsan
had reservations about the fact that, he was all alone over the stance
over judiciary. |
