India test flies drone ‘Lakshya’
NEW DELHI—India’s pilotless target aircraft ‘Lakshya’ was flight tested
from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, about 15 km from Balasore
on Wednesday The aircraft which is equipped with a digitally controlled
“improved engine” performed “discreet aerial reconnaissance” of
battlefield and target acquisition, media reports said. ‘Lakshya’ had
been tested several times in the past, but today’s test was conducted to
further check its engine viability and duration enhancement. Indian Air
Force has been using it since 2000.
