SPI registers nominal increase of 0.23%

ISLAMABAD—The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on
February 14 for the lowest income group up to Rs.3,000 has registered
nominal increase of 0.23 per cent over the previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was
recorded at 173.83 as against 173.43 registered in the previous week,
according to Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). The weekly SPI has been
computed with base 2000 2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53
essential items for all income groups and combined.
The SPI for the combined group registered increase of 0.20 per cent by
going up from 166.35 in the previous week to 166.68 in the week under
review.
During the week under review average prices of 10 items registered
decrease, while that of 26 items increased with the remaining 17 items’
prices unchanged.
The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the
week under review included, egg hen (farm), garlic, onions, wheat
average quality, LPG (11 kg cylender), gur, wheat flour average quality,
red chillies, kerosene, and mustard oil.
The items which registered increase in their prices included, bath soap
(lifebuoy), chicken (farm), masoor pulse (washed), tea packet, tomatoes,
potatoes, bananas, rice basmati (broken), firewood, vegetable ghee
(loose), rice irri-6, moong pulse (washed), bread plain (mid size),
coarse latha material, cooked beef, mash pulse (washed), tea (prepared),
voil printed material, milk powdered (Nido), mutton, cooking oil (tin),
curd, sugar, shirting material, gram pulse (washed), vegetable ghee
(tin).
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under
review included, beef, milk fresh, salt (powdered), cooked dal plate,
cigarettes k-2, lawn material, sandal gents (Bata), sandal ladies
(Bata), chappal spng. (Bata), electrict bulb (60wats), match box,
washing soap (nylon), gas charges up to 3.3719 MMBTU, electricity
charges, petrol, diesel, and telephone local call. |
