China hopes new Govt will bring stability

Beijing—China Wednesday said it was “glad” at the smooth conclusion of general elections in Pakistan and hoped for stability in the neighboring country after the new government is installed.
“Pakistan is China’s friendly neighbour, and we hope Pakistan will continue to maintain stability, development, democracy and harmony after the establishment of new government,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said, according to official Xinhua news agency.
China, which calls Pakistan as its “all weather friend”, “is happy about the smooth completion of Pakistan’s elections”, he said.
The ambassador of China to Pakistan Lue Zhaohui called on the Federal Minister for Human Rights Ansar Burney here on Wednesday.
According to press release, the Chinese ambassador praised the role of caretaker government for holding free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections in the country and expressed the hope that Pak-China relations will further flourish in the days to come.
Federal Caretaker Minister told the Chinese ambassador that caretaker government has formally approved the formation of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan adding that both China and Pakistan should join their hands to work in the fields of human rights.—Agencies
