Hamid satisfied with security situation during polling

ISLAMABAD—Caretaker Interior Minister Lt General retired Hamid Nawaz on
Tuesday underlined that holding of peaceful elections depicted the
fulfilment of the Government’s promise for the continuation of democracy
in the country.
He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Indonesian
Media on Tuesday.
He briefed the delegation regarding the steps taken by Provincial
Governments along with Law Enforcement Agencies for smooth conduction of
elections in the country.
Overall, polling was conducted in a peaceful manner, he maintained. The
delegation lauded Caretaker Interior Minister for holding peaceful and
transparent polls in the country.
They appreciated the arrangements made at the polling stations for the
people to cast their votes. Earlier the delegation highly-acclaimed the
steps taken by Pakistan in the war against terror adding that both
Pakistan and Indonesia will continue cooperation in various fields of
bilateral interests. Agencies add, Minister said that Pakistan being the
front-line state in the war against terrorism is committed to fighting
terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. “We are committed to
eliminating terrorism from this land of ours forever.”
He said the country’s role in the war against terror is also
acknowledged by the United Nations and USA.
Hamid said the Caretaker government has held free, fair and transparent
elections in the country and took all necessary measures for peaceful
polling.
He said the whole polling process was peaceful for which law enforcement
agencies deserve appreciation.
Earlier, the delegation appreciated the role of Pakistan in war against
terror and expressed hope that cooperation between the two country would
further be strengthened. |
