Interim Govt proved full impartiality: Burney

ISLAMABAD—The Federal Minister for human rights Ansar Burney congratulated the Nation on the successful completion of free, fair and transparent elections on Feb 18.
He said the election fully proved the impartiality of the caretaker government and me and thanked Almighty Allah for His blessings in helping to successfully complete the national obligation. Ansar Burney said that immediately after taking the oath as federal minister I promised with the nation that if I am in the government the election should be free, fair, transparent and should be in a peaceful atmosphere and that interim government has proved now. “I am a human rights activist and fully believes in democracy; so I joined interim government to hold free, fair and impartial election, I do not came into power to support or oppose any political party, these were historic elections held under most challenging times and the people of Pakistan have proved to the world that they are a responsible Nation, determined to protect their sovereignty and solidarity.” Ansar Burney said.
He said in the wake of challenges like extremism and terrorism confronting the country, now it was important and right time that the nation stands united, exhibits reconciliation, instead of confrontation. The Human rights Minister expressed the confidence that all the political parties, leaders and their supporters that they would accept the results with dignity and grace. Every citizen he said must demonstrate the same spirit and tolerance displayed by him or her by participating in the elections enthusiastically.
Ansar Burney thanked the foreign and local media as well as observers for playing a positive role in ensuring the transparency as well as credibility of the elections. He also lauded the role of his fellow caretaker ministers especially of Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro for putting in “maximum effort” in holding a free and fair election.
He also appreciated the law enforcement agencies, the Election Commission and concerned authorities for providing effective security to ensure that the elections are held in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner. He emphasized that in order to achieve the benefits of the elections, peace and tranquillity must prevail in every part of the country. The Nation must remain united, he said to defeat those elements that desired to disrupt peace and deny a better and prosperous future to the people of Pakistan.
