Airport expansion project likely to be delayed

ISLAMABAD—The first phase of the expansion of Kachahri to Amar Chowk under the expansion project of the Airport Road has failed to complete. According to sources, it was claimed in a briefing one month ago that the first phase be completed before February 15. The project of the expansion of Airport Road has to be completed till May 31, 2008 but keeping in view the slow pace of the work, the delay is expected.
A high official of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) when contacted held responsible the VIP route for the slow pace of the development work. He informed that so far overall Rs. 600 million have been received, adding that the construction in the front of the Airport is being destroyed while the work on the Fly Over Bridge is underway with the fast pace.
