CEC expresses
satisfaction
ISLAMABAD—Expressing satisfaction over the elections arrangements, Chief
Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Qazi Farooq has said that
strict action would be taken against those who violated the laws Talking
to media during his visit to different polling stations of the twin
cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Monday, CEC said that it is not
against the law for Nazims to perform duties as Polling Agent but it is
unethical. The Chief Election Commissioner while urging all the
political parties and candidates to accept the results wholeheartedly
said that the Election Commission of Pakistan has used all its resources
and abilities to hold elections in a free, fair and transparent manner.
The better turn out is to be expected, added by CEC. Responding to a
question, Justice (retd) Qazi Farooq said that a Code of Conduct was
devised for all the political parties and the contesting candidates and
it is the collective responsibility for all to follow it. No one would
be allowed to take law into his hand and strict action would be taken
against candidates to be involved in violation of code of conducts, he
added. Justice (retd) Qazi Farooq on the occasion urged the polling
staff to count the number of voters carefully. —APP
