PM congratulates nation on successful completion of electoral process

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro on Monday congratulated the
whole nation on the successful completion of a free, fair and
transparent elections. He thanked Almighty Allah for His blessings in
helping to successfully complete the national obligation.
The Prime Minister said these were historic elections held under most
challenging times and the people of Pakistan have proved to the world
that they are a responsible nation, determined to protect their
sovereignty and solidarity.
He thanked the foreign and local media as well as observers for playing
a positive role in ensuring the transparency as well as credibility of
the elections.
While appreciating the efforts and contribution of the Election
Commission, the provincial governments, law enforcement agencies, the
political parties and the voters for ensuring peaceful atmosphere, the
Prime Minister expressed confidence that this environment would continue
in times to come.
The Prime Minister expressed the confidence that all the political
leaders and their supporters would accept the results with dignity and
grace.
Every citizen must demonstrate the same spirit and tolerance displayed
by them by participating in elections enthusiastically, he added.
The Prime Minister emphasized that in order to achieve the benefits of
the elections, peace and tranquility must prevail in every part of the
country.
The nation must remain united to defeat those elements who desired to
disrupt peace and deny a better and prosperous future to the people of
Pakistan, he added.
APP Adds: Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro Monday directed
the provincial governments to keep up vigilance completely and maintain
law and order especially during the post- polling phase.
In a statement issued here Monday, the caretaker Prime Minister appealed
to political parties as well as candidates to cooperate in the
implementation of the entire electoral exercise peacefully and to check
that no untoward takes place to disturb the atmosphere and cause any
damage to the democratic process.
He reiterated that the government is committed to smooth and orderly
transition towards democracy that serves the ultimate purpose to have a
true public representative government in the country.
Soomro said that post-polling phase will be very important and people as
well as political parties should remain more conscious so that the
country could pass through the critical juncture successfully.
Agencies Add: Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro polled his vote in his
native constituency of Jacobabad Monday. On this occasion, the prime
minister expressed satisfaction over the polling arrangements by the
Election Commission for the holding of elections in a free, fair and
transparent manner.
PML (Q) President Ch. Shujaat Hussain and central leader of the party
Ch. Pervaiz Elahi cast their vote in Gujrat. The PML(N) leaders Mian
Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif cast their vote at the polling
station set up in Islamia College, Lahore.
PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari cast his vote at a polling station
in NawabShah. JUI(F) chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman polled his vote in
Abdul Khel in Dera Ismail Khan. Chairperson PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) Ghinwa
Bhutto polled his vote in Larkana.
