IJT announces protest day

ISLAMABAD—The newly elected Central Nazim of Islami Jamiat-e-Tulaba Attiq-ur-Rehman has announced to observe protest day on Friday (today) across the country against the republication of obnoxious cartoons of holy prophet (PBUH) in European newspapers and termed it as an open challenge for religious honor. In his statement issued here on Thursday, he urged the student community to stage peaceful demonstrations out side their educational institutions, mosques and gathering of Juma prayers and record their protest against this blasphemous endeavor. He said that newspapers of Denmark started to publish obnoxious cartoons of holy prophet in Feb 2007 and republication of these cartoons have proved this fact that Anti-Islam forces want to hurt the religious sentiments of Muslim Ummah under the misnomer pretext of “freedom of expression” by using objectionable expression.—Online
