ECP biased, 14000 fake votes in each
constituency: FAFEN

ISLAMABAD—The Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) has alleged that
the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is not unbiased and each
constituency has approximately 14,000 fake votes.
According to details, FAFEN, which comprised of 40 NGO's formed in 2006
has deployed 20,000 observers for monitoring the elections in 264
constituencies of the country.
General Secretary of FAFEN, Sarwar Bari while addressing a press
briefing here on Wednesday in the Central Secretariat of FAFEN said that
the Election Commission of Pakistan when distributed CDs of the
electoral lists announced that 4 million dual voters would be
eliminated.
He said that there was no clear policy of ECP in this regard, adding
that according to our research, there are approximately 14000 fake votes
in each constituency, which reflects that ECP is not unbiased.
Sarwar Bari said that according to FAFEN research, 9.3 percent votes are
bogus, he said and added that from 2002, nearly 20 million people has
reached age of 18 and they have not been registered as voters. The
pre-poll rigging has been started, he said.
FAFEN General Secretary further said that it has been found that in some
constituencies of Karachi, one person has 12 voters in the different
polling stations.
Commenting on the establishment of FAFEN, its Secretary General said
that the main objective not only to monitoring elections but struggle
for the creating a society based on democracy and justice. He said that
the upcoming elections have utmost importance in the current critical
situation of the country.
Meanwhile, Interior Ministry on Wednesday declaring nine districts as
highly sensitive has banned the entry of International Observers and
Media from these districts. Interior Ministry has declared six districts
each of NWFP and FATA, three of Balochistan while one of Sindh as highly
sensitive on the occasion of February 18 elections in the country.
Well-paced Sources of Interior Ministry told Online that South
Waziristan, North Waziristan, Mehmand Agency, Bajaur, Frontier Region,
Dera Adam Khel and Frontier Region Bannu have been declared as highly
sensitive districts. In NWFP, Swat, Shangla, Lower Dir, Malakand, Hangu,
Tank, Kohlu in Balochistan, Dera Bugti, Qila Abdullah, while in Sindh
Kacha have been declared as highly sensitive.
In this regard, Interior Ministry has issued special orders to
Provincial Governments to maintain law and order and monitor security
arrangements in these areas to ensure peace during polls. While on the
other hand, Foreign Observers and International Media have been banned
to enter the said sensitive areas during polls. |
