Explosion ruptures gas pipeline

ISLAMABAD—Some unknown persons have caused ruptures in the Sui-Karachi 20 inch diameter gas pipeline by an explosive device, however the supply of gas to Karachi would not be affected. Police said that the explosive material was planted at the Sui-Karachi gas pipeline at Goth Hajano area, which blew off 6/8 feet piece of the pipeline, leaving a ditch at the place of occurrence, Geo reported. Following the incident, the police cordoned off the area. Police said that an investigation was underway. Meanwhile, Tandori, Kandhkot, Kashmore and the surrounding areas gas supply has been hit by the explosion, but the gas supply to Karachi kept flowing through an alternative pipeline. Officials told that a team from Shikarpur has been rushed for the repairs of the damaged pipeline.—Agencies
