13 dacoits
killed in shootout
SAHIWAL—At least 13 dacoits were killed in a shootout with the villagers
in a Sahiwal suburban village of 135/9-L in the wee hours of Sunday.
More than 25-armed dacoits entered the village in a bid of burglary.
After looting a house, they entered in another house where the family
members shouted. Thereupon, the villagers gathered and started firing on
dacoits followed by besieging them.
At least 13 dacoits were killed in the shootout with the villagers that
lasted more than one hour. 12 other dacoits mostly injured were managed
to escape from the scene. According to the Police authorities, the
dacoits belong to Oar Gang were wanted by Police in different crimes.
The dacoits left their vehicle and truck, which have been seized by
police and started search of culprits. The dead bodies have been sent
for postmortem. Talking to media men, Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP)
Sahiwal Malik Daud said that the members of Ora Gang were involved in
different Inter Provincial incidents of crime, adding that, they were 25
but the villagers foiled their bid of robbery.
Large number of ammunitions, pistols and guns were recovered from the
possession of deceased dacoits, he said, added, teams have been sent for
the search of other dacoits. According to eyewitnesses, more than 25
dacoits in a truck and car-bearing no (LOH-6172) entered the village
Saturday and Sunday night and tried to loot the bungalow of Najeeb
(village Chieftain).
Finding them inside the village, the nephews on the rooftop of Sardar of
Najeeb’s bungalow including Mohsin and Farhan warned them.
