Feasibility of mass transit system to be completed by Oct

ISLAMABAD—Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Kamran Lashari has said that the feasibility study of mass transit system would be completed by October to meet the increasing needs of transport between twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The development department of Islamabad “CDA” after approval of PC-II at a cost of Rs. 56 million invited applications from national and international firms to prepare feasibility report for the project, he said in a statement.
In response, five prominent national and international firms sent their technical and financial bids in September 2007, he said, adding that, a committee headed by Member Planning Brig Nusratullah scrutinized the applications and finally selected Swedish firm on February 07. Chairman CDA hoped that the work would be awarded to firm by February 15. The firm would start the feasibility study till March 01 and it is expected, it would complete the work by October 30. After completing all rules and regulation, he said, the CDA would award the contract to company at the end of current ear.—Agencies
