Utility Stores to sell water at Rs. 3 per liter

ISLAMABAD—The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has launched a project for the providing clean drinking water to its consumers at an economical price of Rs 3 per liter.
The USC has chalked out a plan for installation of water purification machines at its stores throughout the country for which an agreement with a Thailand based company, Water Net Pvt. Ltd, has been made, said a USC press release issued here.
President Pervez Musharraf has lauded the USC’s efforts for the sale and distribution of clean drinking water to its consumers at cheaper rates.
He has expressed the hope that the project would go a long way towards improving the health conditions in the country, as a lot of diseases are caused by the use of unsafe drinking water.
The project was inaugurated by the Prime Minister with the installation of an automatic water cleaning and purification machine here at the Sector G-9 Markaz branch of the Utility Stores. Meanwhile, the potable water would be provided free of cost to the Utility Stores’ Batchat Card holders, said the press release.
