PPP rejects report, seeks private detectives help
By Saad Saud

ISLAMABAD—Strongly rejecting the report of Scotland Yard Team investigating on the assassination of late Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) said it still believes she was killed by assassin’s bullet.
Benazir Bhutto died as a result of a severe head injury sustained as a consequence of the bomb-blast and due to head impact somewhere in the escape hatch of the vehicle and not according to the bullet, according to the findings of the Scotland Yard Team.
The Party is still looking at the Scotland Yard report, however, it is difficult to agree with its findings on the cause of death, said Sherry Rehman while talking to media men.
We do believe that she was killed by an assassin’s bullet, she said, adding that, the report would be sent to Party leadership soon.
The postmortem of Benazir Bhutto was to be held but the Government had contacted Asif Ali Zardari in this respect after 6 six hours at Chaklala Airport.
After releasing of report, it is vital to ascertain what organized group plotted the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. The report of British’s detectives and Government was same.
She also added that investigations by Scotland Yard are mere speculations because no proper autopsy was done and the officials washed the crime scene, which destroyed all the evidence.
The Scotland Yard team was working under the supervision of Government, she alleged, adding that, President Pervez Musharraf originally said that Benazir Bhutto was killed by assassin’s bullet.
She demanded fresh investigating into the assassination of Benazir Bhutto from United Nations and the element involved in the assassination should be exposed. Senator Josef Bakray submitted a resolution in the United Nations demanding it to carryout independent investigation, Sherry said.
“The cause of death has been made suspicious. There was contradiction in the statements of President Pervez Musharraf and Spokesman Interior Ministry Javed Iqbal over the vital issue. The law enforcement agencies and Police had full right to undertake autopsy. Pressure was mounted on doctor”, she maintained.
She said this is her initial reaction but we will review the complete report and than give out full reaction. She vowed to knock on the doors of every international forum to expose the group behind the killing of Benazir Bhutto.
Central Leader PPP Parliamentarian Syed Yousaf Raza also made it clear that his party was not satisfied with report of Scotland Yard team. Talking to media men, he said, the report is baseless in which it is said the death of Benazir Bhutto was caused by the force and intensity of suicide bomb blast, which hurled her head to dash into some part of the vehicle resulting into her death.
Government was issuing preplanned statement on the issue, he said, adding that, we will release final declaration after consultation. The Party spokesman would release the statement.
“Our demand is to conduct fresh investigation from United Nations”, he concluded.
