Fazal to negotiate Lal Masjid cleric’s release

ISLAMABAD—Former Naib Khateeb of Lal Masjid Maulana Abdul Aziz has authorized the chief of JUI (F) Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman to hold dialogue with government for his conditional release.
According to details, JUI (F) Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman called on Maulana Abdul Aziz at Rawal rest house on Saturday, which lasted for two hours, during which Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman told him that he was trying for his (Maulana Abdul Aziz) release. Maulana Abdul Aziz has clarified the he (Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman) should play the role for his release but should not make political issue out of the issue (of his release) in forthcoming general elections of Feb 18. He further demanded assurances of re-opening of Jamia Faridia and reconstruction of Jamia Hafsa.
After the assurances of Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, Maulana Abdul Aziz authorized Maulana Abdul Aziz to hold dialogue with government for his release, for which three members committee of Maulana Dr. Sher Ali Shah, Maulana Qari Saeed-ur-Rehman and cleric of Bilal Masjid Maulana Abdul Ghaffar has been constituted to finalize the strategy to hold dialogue with government. During the meeting Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, also condoled with Maulana Abdul Aziz over the sad demise of his mother, son and brother and offered payer for the departed souls.—Agencies
