Project to dispose of wastage of Allied Hospitals not started yet

RAWALPINID—Owing to unavailability of proper transportation system, the work of disposing of the wastage of the Allied Hospitals of Rawalpindi has not been started yet causing diseases among the staff of these hospitals. According to sources, a modern incinerator has been installed in the Holy Family Hospital in September with the total cost of Rs. 20 million but no trucks have been purchased to lift the wastage from Rawalpindi General Hospital, District Headquarter Hospital and other private hospitals.
Sources further said that the administration of the Allied Hospitals of the city have not selected the points of lifting the wastage and the project is in doldrums for the last four months. According to the international standard, ½ kilo wastage was collected from every bed of the hospital and 20 percent is harmful for human health and if not disposed off carefully could cause diseases. According to the statistics, District Civil Hospital produce 175 kilogram wastage, RGH produce 300 kg wastage and only the wastage of the Holy Family Hospital is being disposed off properly while most of the wastage throw in the nullahs of the city.
