Awareness project launched for haemophilia patients

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Haemophilia Patients Welfare Society (PHPWS) in collaboration with Haemophilia Center and Department of Hematology, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has launched project for education of haemophilia patients.
A number of associated doctors, including members from provincial chapters, government officials, representatives from local and international NGO’s and about 300 patients along with their parents attended the launching ceremony.
Addressing on the occasion Executive Director PIMS Dr. Majeeed Rajput said there is need to create awareness among the masses about the disease.
He appreciated the efforts of project team and assured every possible support. Project Director Dr. Tahira Zafar gave a detailed review of haemophilia care in the country and problems being faced by patients.
She said the disease can be well managed through combined efforts of medical teams. She said a comprehensive educational program will be launched and educational material will be developed in the local languages to ensure better understanding of the issue.
Project Coordinator Shah Faisal said there will be regular meetings, seminars and workshops to educate patients so that they not only become aware of the disease but can also know what to do in case of excessive bleeding outside the hospital.
