AIOU committed to quality education: VC

ISLAMABAD—Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is taking concrete steps to provide quality education, says Vice Chancellor Mahmood ul Hassan Butt.
As part of such efforts, the VC said Wednesday the universitywas working on an ambitious project to improve its distant learning facility for enhanced access to the university’s study materialthrough internet.
He said that the university signed an agreement with IntelCorporation to provide computers to its tutors and students at low cost and the step would help expand the access of the university’sstudents especially living in remote areas to quality education. A university did not mean to produce degrees and disseminateamong students just knowledge, rather it creates knowledge by encouraging its students to conduct research, the VC remarked.—Online
