fallout of emergency rule
RAWALPINDI—Quaid PML-N and Former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz
Sharif has said that the house arrest of deposed judges including Chief
Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, lawyers and
national hero Dr. Abdul Qadir Khan shows that the emergency rule still
prevails in the country.
Addressing the Rawalpindi Bar High Court Bar on Friday, Nawaz vowed to
release all arrested lawyers, national hero Dr. Abdul Qadir and deposed
judges who refused to take oath other under Provincial Constitutional
Ordinance (PCO) If Almighty Allah gave him power as a result of February
18 elections. Paying great tribute to the ongoing movement of lawyers
fraternity for the independence of judiciary, the Former Prime Minister
said, Youm-e-Ahad (Commitment day) would be observed on February 06.
Doctrine of necessity and dictatorship would be submerged in Arabian
Sea, Nawaz pointed out. President Supreme Court Bar Association Chaudhry
Aitzaz Ahsan was not released but he himself brought about his release.
He said he feels very happy by standing before those people who have
taken stand courageously for independence of judiciary, restoration of
deposed, rule of law and against dictatorial rule of President Musharraf.
The lawyers fraternity who are waging war for 1.6 million citizens of
the country fresh the memories of Pakistan Independence movement led by
Poet and Philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali
Jinnah, he said. Dictatorship is worst enemy and democracy is best
friend of Pakistan, Nawaz added.
The ongoing movement of lawyers would get rid the nation from
dictatorship, he said, adding, the sermon delivered by Hazrat Muhammad
(Peace Be Upon Him) at Hajjat-ul-Wida are best charter of human rights.
“It is very shameful for us that a dictator by sitting in Pakistan says
that the Pakistani nation are not liable for real democracy and basic
human rights can not be given to them”, he maintained. He urged citizens
of the country to boot out dictatorship on February 18 to resolve all
problem being faced by the country. He made it clear he would not sit
silent until dictatorship is ended in the country. 21st century is
century of death for dictatorship and boat of dictatorship is sinking
day by day, he told the lawyers.
The Former Prime Minister declared November 03 as black day in history
of the country.
The President and Prime Minister have no right to take action against
Chief Justice of the country then how a Chief of Army Staff can take
action against him, he noted. During emergency rule, he said, amendments
were made in the constitution unconstitutionally and illegal, Nawaz
said.
Quaid PML-N said that the emergency rule would not end in the country
until deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad
Chaudhry is reinstated. The restoration of judges is top priority of PML-N,
he said, adding that, his Party would establish real democracy in the
country. Commitment day would be observed on February 06. On the day,
all the Party Candidates contesting elections for the seat of national
and Provincial assemblies would take oath in Lahore that they would not
sit silent till reinstatement of all deposed judges of Supreme and High
