Ousting CEC to be illegal: Bhagwandas

ISLAMABAD—Former Senior Judge of the Supreme Court, Rana Bhagwandas has said that the job term of Head of the Election Commission Justice (retd) Qazi Farooq has not expired and to appoint another person as the Chief Election Commissioner at present is legally wrong.
Talking to Voice of America, Rana Bhagwandas said that in case of resignation of present Chief Election Commissioner, only the President has the authority to appoint new CEC and under these circumstance, the suggestion is mere a assumption.
The former Senior Judge said however he does not want to comment on the suggestion of former Army Generals regarding formation of the Election Commission under his supervision.
He said that he wants to participate in social work and is waiting for the arrival of renowned social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi.—Agencies
