Cost of weekly bazaars rises due to delay

RAWALPINDI—The total cost allocated for the construction of 2 model weekly bazaars has been enhanced due to delay in completion of work as well as negligence of Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The PC-1 for the construction of model weekly bazaar of G-6 could not be approved sofar, sources in the CDA said. According to the sources, the construction work of 1400 stalls out of 1800 in weekly model bazaar of G-6 have been completed while the estimated cost has been increased from 90 million to 140 million. The relevant authorities in CDA opined that the cost has been increased followed by directions of Chairman Kamran Lashari to include the area adjacent o Nullah in the bazaar. On the other hand, the representative of Construction firm said that the bloody military operation against administration of Lal Masjid, non approval of PC-1 and non releasing of fund was prime reason behind the delay in project. Meanwhile, sources said, H-9 weekly bazaar having 2600 stalls would be completed by February 15 with total cost of Rs. 200 million which was earlier 140 million.
