Compensation for riots victims approved

ISLAMABAD—Caretaker Prime Minister Muhammad Mian Soomro, on the recommendation of the Commission on Damage Assessment, Thursday approved a compensation of Rs 300,000 for the heirs of each of the 43 innocent persons who lost their lives during disturbances in Sindh during December 27 and December 31, 2007.
In a directive issued by the Prime Minister’s secretariat the Sindh government has been asked to ensure the entire process of payment of compensation is completed within one week.
Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro has said that the industrial owners, agriculturalists, businessmen, workers and the common man, all have to sacrifice a bit of their need and accordingly determine for themselves how to reduce the consumption of electricity, gas and fuel.
