Farari camps eliminated in Balochistan: Awais

QUETTA—Former governor Balochistan Awais Ahmed Ghani has said that the
government has rooted out farari camps and miscreants from the province,
however, a few terrorists are present and they will soon be wiped out.
Talking to journalists after oath-taking ceremony of the acting-Governor
Balochistan here at the Governor House on Sunday, the outgoing governor
reiterated that Pakistan would face the menace of terrorism until
complete peace is established in its neighbouring Afghanistan. Peace and
stability in Afghanistan will guarantee peace in Balochistan and in
other parts of the country.
He said that when he assumed the office of governor Balochistan the
situation was different and now it has totally changed and improved. He
said he had established liaisons with political parties and nationalists
who extended their cooperation to him for improving law and order and
political environment in the province.
To a question about serving as controversial governor as security
operation conducted during his tenure in the province, the outgoing
governor dispelled the impression and disagreed with the questioner.
I launched numerous development projects and took steps for progress and
prosperity of the province, he said, adding that it was not the same
Balochistan which was four years earlier and now the people have
awareness regarding their own and strangers.
To another question that what would be his priorities as Governor NWFP,
he said that he would decide his priorities after assuming the charge of
his office there. President Pervez Musharraf has assigned
responsibilities on me, he said, adding that he would make efforts to
perform the responsibilities legitimately.
He expressed his warm wishes for progress and prosperity of Balochistan.
He said that people of the province are his brothers and his heart would
beat with them, despite assuming the office of Governor NWFP. He
expressed his thanks to the people of Balochistan for cooperating with
him during his governorship in the province.
Balochistan High Court (BHC) Chief Justice Amanullah Yasinzai has taken
oath of acting governor of Balochistan here Sunday. BHC senior judge
Justice Ahmad Khan Lashari administered oath as acting governor to
Justice Amanullah Yasinzai in a simple but impressive ceremony in
governor house. Acting governor of Balochistan justice Amanullah
Yasinzai administered oath as acting chief justice of BHC to Justice
Ahmad Khan Lashari.
Newly appointed governor of NWFP Awais Ahmad Ghani, caretaker chief
minister of Balochistan Sardar Muhammad Saleh Bhutani, chief secretary
K.B Rind, care taker provincial ministers and senior civil and military
officers attended the ceremony.
Talking to journalists after oath taking ceremony former governor of
Balochistan Awais Ahmad Ghani said the country would continue to face
menace terrorism unless situation was improved in Afghanistan.
He underscored saboteurs and farari camps were eliminated from
Balochistan. However there were some terrorists still there and they
would soon be eliminated, he added.
When asked nationalists had alleged that people of Balochistan were
subjected to excesses during his governorship and he remained a
controversial governor Awais said he did not agree to their stance. “I
have worked for unprecedented development and prosperity of Balochistan.
Balochistan is not what it was 4 years earlier as the people have become
mature, he remarked. President has entrusted new responsibilities to me
and I will try my best to fulfill them in befitting manner”, he told.
When asked what would be his priorities as governor of NWFP, Awais said
he would determine his priorities after his arrival in NWFP. “I will
keep eye on the matters of Balochistan too while sitting in NWFP”, he
told.
