Flour supply improves offer timely action
By Khalid Amin

ISLAMABAD—The supply of flour at fixed rates is getting better across the country due to the government’s strict and timely action against its artificial shortage and price-hike.
Food department officials told Radio Pakistan that sufficient stock of wheat is available with the department. They said disruption in the communication system following Liaquat Bagh tragedy interrupted flour supply to the markets. Besides, electricity load-shedding also blocked the grinding of wheat.
In the Punjab, the flour supply situation is returning to normalcy as the mill owners are being provided with 480 sacks of wheat daily. In Lahore, Atta is being supplied through trucks to cope with the flour crisis.
For this purpose, 35 special sale points have been set up. Arrangements have also been made to transport flour to other cities through trucks.
In the NWFP, fair price shops have been opened to ensure supply of Atta to the common man. The provincial government is taking strict action to address the artificial shortage and price-hike of ATTA.
In Quetta and adjoining areas, 123 fair price shops have been set up to ensure supply of wheat flour to the public. The provincial government has launched a drive against the hoarders and profiteers.
