Load-shedding
hits productivity
SIALKOT—President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Dr.
Khurram Anwar Khawaja has said that due to unscheduled load-shedding and
low pressure of sui gas have badly hit the productivity in Sialkot.
Addressing a joint press conference called by the trade bodies here on
Friday, he alleged that Sui gas authorities had disconnected 37
industrial connections of Sialkot without serving any notice. According
to a rough statistics the local industrial sector was facing losses
amounting more than to Rs.300 million daily due to long load shedding
and low pressure of Sui gas, he added. Under the prevailing situation,
he said it is pretty difficult to achieve the export fixed target of US
One billion dollar. Speaking on the occasion Aamir Riaz Bhinder former
Chairman Surgical instrument Manufacturers Association (SIMA) Pakistan
informed that surgical industry has faced US five million dollar loss
during past three days due to unscheduled load-shedding and low pressure
of Sui gas. Aamir Bhinder stressed upon the concerned authorities that
immediate steps should be taken for protecting the industrial sector of
Sialkot from its total collapsing.—Online
