ISLAMABAD—The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will announce land
acquisition awards for seven new sectors in next three months, a CDA
official said here Friday.
“The Authority will announce land acquisition awards for sectors D-13,
E-13, F-13, C-13, C-14, C-15 and C-16 in next three months.” The Capital
Development Authority (CDA) the land acquisition process in D-13, E-13
and F-13. The process is underway in C-13, C-14, C-15 and C-16 and will
be completed by the end of 2008, he added.
The CDA Land Restoration Department has completed the survey of the four
remaining sectors and is obtaining revenue and land records from the
Islamabad Capital Territory Administration for the purchase of land. The
official said agreements had already been signed between the Authority
and landholders in D-13 and E-13 where they will be given plots in
compensation for their lands.
He said the land acquisition process in D-13 and E-13 had been started
before the introduction of the land-sharing formula devised on the
pattern of the Defence Housing Authority’s experience of land
acquisition and that the landholders in these sectors would therefore be
compensated with plots in these sectors.
In the other four sectors, the official said, the land would be acquired
according to the land-sharing formula which states, “No cash transaction
will be involved in future land acquisition agreements and the uniform
application of the formula will benefit the land owners and remove
chances of post-agreement disputes.”
The official said work on the development of basic infrastructure in all
seven sectors, including provision of natural gas and electricity,
development of a sewerage system and construction of roads, will be
started early next year and will be completed in 18 months.
The official said the Authority had approached the Interior Ministry
regarding recruitment of additional staff to complete land acquisition.
He said D-13, E-13 and F-13 would be launched this year but that the
sale and transfer of land in these sectors had been banned.
These sectors will be opened for general public but quotas have been
reserved for federal government employees, journalists and CDA
employees, he said. |
