‘Zardari,
Malik won’t be grilled’
ISLAMABAD—Interior ministry spokesman Brig (Retd) Javed Cheema has
contradicted the reports about the inclusion of Asif Zardari and Rehman
Malik in the investigation about assassination of Benazir Bhutto saying
there is no substance in such reports.
State run TV channel has quoted interior ministry spokesman as saying
that British team had started its work, and there was no truth in a
report relayed by a private TV channel on inclusion of Asif Zardari and
Rehman Malik in the investigation process.
The private TV channel had claimed that decision had been taken to
include Asif Zardari and Rehman in the investigations besides placing
the names of these two leaders and those who remained with Benazir
Bhutto till her death in Exit Control List (ECL). The private TV channel
has said that in the light of preliminary investigation report on
Benazir Bhutto killing the investigation team and federal government had
decided to include Asif Ali Zardari and Rehman Malik, security advisor
of Benazir Bhutto in the investigations.
The inquiry committee is likely to record the statements of these two
leaders and other PPP leaders very soon, while sources informed that it
had been proposed that names of Asif Zardari and Rehman Malik be
included in ECL and should be kept in the list till the investigations
are finalized.—Agencies |
