KRL, KESC play 0-0 draw in Premier Soccer League

LAHORE—Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) played a 0-0 draw against Karachi Electric Supply Corporation in the fourth Pakistan Premier Soccer League at KRL stadium, Rawalpindi Thursday.
According to information made available here by Pakistan Football Federation, KRL having services of skipper Muhammad Essa, Muhamad Rasool, Shahid Ahmed, wasted several chances in the both halves to ruin the opportunity for grabbing two vaulable points.
KRL picked up 36 points from 19 matches while KESC completed 20 matches and registering 32 points. Meanwhile Army kept leadership under their grasp with barest margin 1-0 win over NBP at Army Stadium. The goal-getter was event’s leading marksman Imran Hussain in the final minute of the game. League-leader Pakistan Army, on the way to hat-trick of triumph under Babar Mehmood, managed 43 points from 19 matches while NBP completed 20 matches, pencilling 36 points.
Meanwhile Navy staged recovery to beat PIA 2-1 at Naval Complex. PIA had opened the scoring in the 15th minute through winger Ali Adeem Shahzad but Navy turned the tide later on. Midfielder Nomi Martin Gill made it 1-1 on the stroke of interval and it was left to spearhead Muhammad Basharat to snatch 86th minute winner. It was 19th match for both the teams. PIA, the most successful team in domestic soccer of Pakistan with nine titles, made 30 points while Navy had 27.
PTV suffered 1-2 defeat at the hands of HBL at Jinnah Stadium with all goals coming in final 24 minutes of game. The bankers broke the ice in the 66th minute through striker Aurangzeb after scoreless first half. PTV hit back through striker Naimat Ullah in the 74th minute. But Khayal Muhammad gave HBL full three points when he hammered the 78th minute winner. It was hotly-contested match but Referee Chaman Khan showed his class with authoritative refereeing and controlled the match despite several skirmishes.
Both the teams are in danger of relegation. HBL recorded 17 points from 18 games while PTV hit 14 off their 19 visits to field. Saturday Fixture (All matches kicked off at 2.30 PM) .—Agencies
