Indian PM to visit China next week

NEW DELHI—Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to pay his first ever visit to China from Jan. 13 to 15 at the invitation of Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
A statement issued by an official spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs said during the visit, Manmohan Singh would hold official talks with Premier Wen Jiabao. He would also have separate meetings with Hu Jintao, President of People’s Republic of China and Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the last Indian Prime Minister who Visited China from 22 to 27 June in 2003. The statement further said this visit was a part of the high level exchanges between India and China in recent years including those by Premier Wen Jiabao to India in April 2005 and President Hu Jintao to India in November 2006.—Agencies
